Karl Hans Joseph (JHK No AKA) Born March 09, in Carrefour, Port‑au‑Prince, Haiti

A child of educators and storytellers, JHK No AKA was steeped in Haiti’s rich cultural fabric from birth. His upbringing in Carrefour—a vibrant suburb alive with African, Indigenous, and European influences—imbued his artistry with a deep sense of place and rhythm. After a brief tenure studying MIS at Jamaica’s UCC University, he returned to Haiti and dedicated himself to music, spending nights working in tech by day, and honing his craft by night. Influenced by the golden era of 1990s hip‑hop, reggae, dancehall, and Haitian folk, JHK embraced a fiercely independent, self‑teaching ethos. In June 2020, he debuted Above the LAW, an entirely self‑produced album under his collective La Cour des Treize.

The project fuses boom‑bap beats, tropical synths, and occasional saxophone—anchored in gritty lyricism. With playlist traction like Spotify’s “Hits Rap Kreyòl,” the album marked his arrival on both underground and mainstream stages. Since then, JHK has released collabs such as “Come to My Bedroom” (feat. Meza45, 2023) and singles including “Dodo Titit,” “Deported Freestyle,” “Amitié,” and “Le Séisme.” His artistry was also featured on the Lion Beatz Mixtape (2022), aligning him with Haiti’s freshest underground acts. Known for emotional depth and sonic authenticity, JHK No AKA aims for recognition among the underground’s best—intent on opening doors for other voices in Haitian hip-hop.
